Lawsuit Filed Against New Mexico Racing Commission
RATON -- A new lawsuit claims the New Mexico Racing Commission worked against the owners who planned to bring a racetrack and casino to Raton.
The federal suit filed last Monday says the commission let the license on La Mesa Racetrack and Casino expire on purpose after several construction delays.
The owner of the racino says he would never have invested millions in the project if he was initially told he could lose the license.
The suit seeks unspecified damages including attorneys fees from the state.
