Clovis Sears Employee Arrested for Embezzling Money

CLOVIS -- The Curry County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by Sears Corporation - Loss Prevention agents back in April and asked to investigate an internal crime occurring at the North Plains Mall location in Clovis.

The Curry County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation into the allegations and found that a Sears employee was fraudulently using Sears cards to embezzle money from the store and then using the embezzled money to purchase items online.

Jcoree Bailey, 19, was arrested and charged with 38 fourth degree felony counts of violating The Remote Financial Services Act and with one count of Embezzlement, also a fourth degree felony.

At this time the estimated value of the items purchased with the embezzled funds is over $8,000. Sheriff investigator’s also served a search warrant at the suspect’s residence in Texico and recovered over $6,000 of items believed to have been illegally obtained during this embezzlement.

Bailey was booked into the Curry County Detention Center and has since been released on a $50,000 cash/surety bond.
