Some GM Recall Victims Won't Get Compensation

Not all victims of an ignition switch problem with a GM vehicle are eligible for a payout from the automaker's compensation fund.

General Motors created the fund for the families of those who died or victims injured in one of the 2.6-million vehicles recalled in February.

But money from the fund is not being offered to victims of later June recalls of 11.6 million cars.

GM says the recalls involve two different problems -- the first one a flaw with the ignition switch itself, the second with the key.

Victims not eligible for GM's compensation fund still have the option to sue the company.
