Members of congress had quite a travel itinerary last year - they took almost 4 million dollars worth of free trips.

Data shows that's the most for privately funded travel in a decade.

Family members went along on more than 40-precent of the trips.

Travel has mostly been paid for by charitable or educational groups since 2007 when ethics rules changed to limit influence of corporate interests and lobbyists.
