PTSD Treatment For Veterans Lacking

-
A new report says the government isn't prepared to treat the increasing number of cases of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder in troops and veterans.

The study by the Institute of Medicine found that despite spending billions, a "lack of standards, reporting, and evaluation" has hurt government efforts to treat PTSD.

The report, released Friday, was authorized by Congress in 2010.

While it does say the Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs have made a commitment to PTSD management, it recommends they better coordinate with each other.

The report comes on the heels of criticism that the VA Health Care System has left thousands of veterans facing long delays for medical care.
