Obama Returns to D.C.

- (NBC News) President Obama took a break from his family vacation Monday, returning to Washington for meetings on Iraq and the ongoing violence in Ferguson, Missouri.

During an afternoon statement to reporters Mr. Obama focused mainly on Ferguson, saying he does not want to predudge the case of Michael Brown's death, but adding the people concerned about the killing have a right to be heard.

"While I understand the passions and the anger that arise over the death of Michael Brown, giving into that anger by looting or carrying guns, or even attacking the police, only serves to raise tension and chaos," the president said.

Mr. Obama also met with his security team and ordered more airstrikes in Iraq, where progress has been reported in the battle against ISIS fighters.
