(NBC News) President Obama praised Kathleen Sebelius Friday while announcing her resignation as Health and Human Services Secretary.
Mr. Obama said leadership by the embattled Sebelius was key to helping enroll about 7.5 million Americans into health plans as the Affordable Care Act was rolled out.
The president said he and Sebelius both have bumps and bruises from the long fight to pass the health law and its rocky implementation.
The president also announced Sylvia Mathews Burwell as his nominee to succeed Sebelius at Health and Human Servicess.
Burwell is the current director of the Office of Management and Budget.
