Having the US Postal Service deliver mail to your door could become a thing of the past for many.
A committee in the Republcian-led house passed a bill last week to end delivery to 15-million doorsteps and companies over the next 10 years.
In new housing developments, the postal service is already setting up clusters of mail boxes where residents pick up their own mail.
Government reports estimate ending all door deliveries could save $4.5-billion a year.
But unions say it could also lead to layoffs.
President Obama has endorsed a similar idea but it's unclear if the bill would have the support it needs to pass in the Democratic-led Senate.
