About Half Of American Adults Hacked In Past Year

Hackers have exposed the personal information of over 100 million Americans in the last year.

Ponemon Institute says about 432 million accounts were hacked.

The exact number of exposed accounts is hard to pin down, because some companies, such as AOL and Ebay, aren't fully transparent about the details of their cyber breaches.

According to their website, Ponemon Institute conducts independent research on consumer trust, privacy, data protection and emerging data security technologies.
