AMARILLO -- In an effort to raise awareness and funds for programs that support children with special needs, 8 men from around the country have joined Investors Bank Bike 4 Friendship - a 3,100 - mile cycling trip from San Diego to New York City.

During the six-week trek, the cyclists will bike approximately 90 miles each day through 15 states.

On their route, they will make official stops in 40 cities to meet with members of the community and press to spread their message.

Investors Bank Bike 4 Friendship promotes the mission of Friendship Circle, an international organization which connects teenage volunteers with children, teens, and young adults with special needs to foster a sense of companionship and community.

The programs activities also build social, recreational, and educational skills.
