The event is scheduled for March 29th at 7 pm at the Amarillo Civic Center, North Exhibit Hall. The theme is the Roaring Twenties.
Martha's Home has provided single women and mothers and children who have become homeless with a place to live, education, employment opportunities and other services for 25 years. The program has grown from a small two-bedroom home to four homes. On average, Martha's Home serves 95 women and 100 children.
"It's so exciting to see someone complete the program, get a job, get a car, get on their way to being self-sufficient," Mary Kay Kuhrts, Martha's Home Development Director said.
For Teresa Gallagher, who completed the Martha's Home Program and is now the shelter manager, Martha's Home helped her when she found herself homeless and trying to stay in recovery.
"I fell in love with this place. It's more like a home. It's not like a shelter," Gallagher said.
Tickets to the Second Chance Prom are $45, or you can purchase a table. Tickets are available at all Panhandle Tickets Outlets, or at the Amarillo Civic Center Box Office. You can also call Mary Kay Kuhrts at (806) 367-1757.
