LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS -- Local Red Cross volunteers continue to help tornado victims in Arkansas.

The state was one of the hardest hit last week during severe weather.

Two volunteers, Raenell Gore and David Watson, left a day after the tornadoes hit.

They've been helping with cleanup efforts and providing shelter to victims.

They say the people there are strong and optimistic.

16 people were killed from the tornadoes in Arkansas.

About 40 tornadoes hit at least 17 states, including Oklahoma.
