Local Veterinarian Works to Get Rid of Feral Hogs With Genetics

We brought you a special report this week on feral hogs, and their exploding population on the High Plains..

Now, one local veterinarian and his partner are working to get rid of these hogs in a unique way

Dr. Greg Veneklasen has submitted plans to the FDA to change the "Y" chromosome of these hogs, so that male hogs could only reproduce other male hogs, eventually decreasing the population of feral hogs all together.

Veneklasen's reasearch indicates this method of population control could eliminate 1,575 pigs in the first generation of one pig.
