- Amarillo Company, Darby Racing Technology LLC, has outfitted four jockeys in the Kentucky Derby in the signature Speed Silks® jockey silks.

Matt Darby, owner of Darby Racing Technology LLC, got the idea for his Speed Silks seven years ago. In March of 2013, Darby won the WTAMU Enterprise Center, EnterPrize Challenge, and since then, his business has grown to include these clients in the Kentucky Derby,

The horses and their jockeys who will be wearing Speed Silks in this year's Kentucky Derby are Hoppertunity, owned by Mike Pegram and Karl Watson. The jockey is Mike Smith. Vicar's in Trouble, owned by Ken and Sarah Ramsey. The jockey is Rosie Napravnik. Chitu, owned by Tanma Corporation. The jockey is Martin Garcia. Finally, We Miss Artie, owned by Ken and Sarah Ramsey. The jockey is Javier Castellano.

"They are a head-to-toe, form fitting, equine, jockey uniform. And they're made out of a special fabric that's textured to actively reduce drag," Darby said. "Never in our wildest dreams could've we imagined it would have worked out like that but sure enough it did."

The Speed Silks are made of Aero Dimplex, an aerodynamic material, textured to actively reduce drag.
