July 25 Evening Weather Forecast

-
Good Thursday afternoon. The combination of a weak cold front and northwest flow aloft will provide for increasing chances of rain. The frontal boundary will become stationary across the Texas Panhandle today with scattered showers and thunderstorms likely. Some of the storms that form could be marginally severe with hail and high winds. Overtime however, areas of localized flooding will become the main concern where thunderstorms train (or move) along the front. The chance of rain is 30 to 50 percent. Because of the expected cloud cover and humidity, temperatures will hold steady in the 80s and low 90s. Tomorrow and the weekend will follow suit with 80s and low 90s being commonplace. The rain production for Saturday and Sunday will be a result of northwest flow aloft. As thunderstorms develop over the Rocky Mountains during the day, the northwesterly winds will steer the storms toward the Panhandles in the evening and overnight hours. Our western counties will have the best chance for rain with this setup. Storm chances may continue into early next week with highs around 90.
