Jones elected chairman of the Board of Disciplinary Appeals

Marvin W. Marty Jones has been elected chairman of the Board of Disciplinary Appeals, effective beginning September 1, 2014.

The Board is a statewide independent adjudicatory body of 12 attorneys appointed by the Supreme Court of Texas to hear certain attorney discipline cases and to promote consistency in interpretation and application of the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct and the Texas Rules of Disciplinary Procedure.

Jones was initially appointed to the Board in 2009, and was reappointed by the Court in 2012. He currently serves as vice-chair of the Board.

He  is the managing partner of the Sprouse Shrader Smith law firm in its Amarillo office. He graduated from Baylor Law School in 1977 where he was editor-in-chief of the Baylor Law Review. He is board certified in civil trial law, a fellow of the prestigious American College of Trial Lawyers, and a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates.
