Jeffrey West Found Guilty of Evading Arrest and Possession of Stolen Copper

FRITCH -- Jeffrey Allen West, 34, was found guilty of Evading Arrest or Detention with a Vehicle and Possession of Stolen Copper. 

Officials say the crime occurred in February of last year in Borger, Texas. 

West tried to evade arrest while Borger Police chased him through the Gateway neighborhood. West ended up wrecking the car. During the investigation stolen copper ground wires in West's possession. The copper was stolen from an Xcel Energy substation. 

The Jury sentenced West to 13 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice - Institutional Division and assessed a $3,000 fine for the evading charge. The jury further sentenced West to 18 months in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice - State Jail Division and assessed a $10,000.00 fine for the possession of stolen copper charge.
