Hiring on the Rise

-

(NBC News)  The Labor Department says U.S. employers added 288,000 jobs last month, driving the unemployment rate down to 6.1 percent, the lowest rate since September 2008.

"This is the 52nd consecutive month of job growth which is the longest on record," notes U.S. Labor Secretary Thomas Perez.

The job gains were widespread.  Factories added workers, as did retailers, restaurants and bars,  financial and insurance firms and even construction.

Touring a tech startup in Washington, the president said it could and should be better.

"We could be growing even more jobs, we could be creating even more business opportunities," President Obama said.
