Amarillo, Texas -
AMARILLO -- On Friday afternoon an off-duty APD officer saw that a white pickup had been involved in an accident at Wolflin and S. Bonham.
The driver appeared to be trying to back the white 1995 GMC pickup away from the collision scene as though he was trying to leave. The officer made contact with the man.
The driver had no driver’s license and couldn’t explain his connection with the pickup’s owner.
The officer believed the vehicle was stolen, and placed the man under arrest.
Additional investigation confirmed that the vehicle had been stolen from a parking lot on W. 28th in Amarillo on February 12. The man driving the stolen pickup, Shaman Lee Cooper, 29, was wanted on a Gray County warrant for theft over $100,000. Cooper was transported to the Potter County Detention Center, where he was booked for the warrant and for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
