HEREFORD -- Hereford Regional Sportsplex, Inc. and Kids, Incorporated is holding the grand opening of the Caviness Sportsplex at 525 S. Kingwood in Hereford tonight.
The evening begins with a cookout for the community starting at 5:30 p.m. and at 6:15 p.m. a formal dedication to honor those who donated funds to aid in building the facility.
Immediately following the dedication, the first soccer game starts at 7 p.m.
In 2012, Hereford Regional Sportsplex Inc. (HRSP) formed as a nonprofit organization. Leaders from Hereford began consulting with Kids, Incorporated of Amarillo after receiving several inquiries from members of the Hereford community regarding their desire for an indoor sports complex. The Hereford Economic Development Corporation and the City of Hereford donated a 75-acre tract of land for the project. Plans include outdoor fields for multi-sport opportunities.
“We are excited about the opportunity to expand our business model to another community,” said Jimmy R. Lackey, president and CEO for Kids, Incorporated. “Our goal is to incorporate the outlying communities in the Hereford area and to provide quality sports programs for children and families in that region of the Texas Panhandle.”
The building includes indoor soccer and flag football fields for both youth and adult sports leagues.
