Former Wayland Baptist CFO Pleaded Guilty to Felony Theft

AMARILLO -- A former Wayland Baptist University Chief Financial Officer will spend the next five-years behind bars for stealing money.

68-year-old James Smith pleaded guilty to felony theft.

According to court documents, Smith used university funds for personal expenses, last year.

He was fired after an investigation.

Smith will have to pay more than $1.3-million back in restitution.
