NEW YORK -- The federal government is doing its part to prevent lung cancer caused by radon.

Radon Awareness Week continues through Saturday.

They say one in 15 American homes contain high levels of radon, with many not knowing they're exposed.

The gas caused more deaths last year than carbon monoxide, fires, and handguns combined.

The EPA and Surgeon General say all Americans to test their home for radon if they haven't in the past two years.
