Dark chocolate is what contains all the good stuff. The milk in milk chocolate actually blocks the antioxidants and phytochemicals from performing their super hero actions on your body.
As for the bonus, some studies have linked chocolate lovers with having higher libidos; it's possibly the king of natural aphrodisiacs! It contains several compounds like anandamide, which is a psychoactive feel-good chemical that actually has been shown to have the same effect on the brain as marijuana (not enough to get a person high.) Another compound in chocolate is PEA (phenylethylamine.) PEA is the love chemical, which releases dopamine in the pleasure centers of the brain.
If you're avoiding sweets, why not try making or ordering a chocolate mole with chili peppers? The peppers actually stimulate endorphins, speed up your heart rate and make you sweat. I like to add a bit of pumpkin seeds because they are extremely high in zinc, thus helping the body produce more testosterone-- the hormone both sexes need to increase libido.
As a second course, I recommend serving a light cucumber salad sprinkled with a good brand of ground up black licorice; this is primarily for the ladies. The Smell and Taste Treatment and Research Foundation in Chicago has found that this combination of smells causes the greatest increase in blood flow to the essential region for women for increasing libido.
They also found that for men and women, the smell of pumpkin pie increased blood flow to their respective important regions, but for men, an increased blood flow to the essential region for men to increase libido.
