Mosquito Tech: What Works?

(WFLA) A mosquito control center in Pinellas County, Florida is helping put a new app called 'The Anti-Mosquito Sonic Repeller' to the test.

Mosquitoes are much more than a nuisance as they can spread diseases like the West Nile Virus, and more lately, Chikun-Gunya.

Glen-Paul Edson with the Mosquito Control center in Pinellas County, Florida says that he has seen devices similar to this before.

"Same idea of putting out a frequency that's supposed to imitate the male wing beat frequency and deter females because it's the female that bites," said Edson.

For the most effective results, Edson recommends using repellents with deet, oil of eucalyptus, or pacaridin.
