Researchers report promising results with a drug to treat advanced breast cancer.

In clinical trials, they say the risk that cancer would worsen or progress was cut in half.

The drug also appeared to prolong survival but not by a statistically significant amount.

An oncologist and principal investigator in the study calls the results "quite groundbreaking".
