Fireworks Safety On The Fourth of July

Many people will light up the night to celebrate on Friday, but it's important to remember safety.

According to the Texas Department of Insurance, in Texas in 2012, there were more than 800 fires caused by fireworks,

The month of July had the highest occurrence, with 533 fireworks-related fires, a 14 percent increase over the previous year.

The organziation has these tips; Make sure there is adult supervision around fireworks. Do not consume alcohol while using fireworks. 

Read all directions and warnings. Use fireworks on a hard, flat surface.

Point fireworks away from people. And, keep a bucket of water nearby for emergencies.
