"Every Drop Counts" Poster Contest


AMARILLO – The City of Amarillo is kicking off its 2014 Summer Poster Contest today centered on the “Every Drop Counts” theme.


Judges will look at the quality of design, creativity, originality, content and reproducibility of the poster.


The following age groups (school year 2014-2015) will have a winner:


·         K through 2nd Grade

·         3rd through 5th Grade

·         Middle School

·         High School


Winners are recognized at the July 15 Amarillo City Council meeting and their artwork will be reproduced in the City’s 2014 Every Drop Counts calendar.


In addition to adhering to the “Every Drop Counts” theme, the general rules for the poster contest are as follows: 


·         The poster should be artistic, positive in approach, and focus on water conservation.

·         Poster must be at least 11 x 8.5 inches, but not larger than 17 x 11 inches, and must be in a landscape (horizontal) layout.

·         Poster may be submitted on paper or poster board.

·         Must be student’s original artwork.

·         No signatures on posters!

·         No syndicated, copyrighted or clipart images.

·         No computer-aided or copy-machine poster entries.

·         A completed entry form must be attached to the back upper right corner of each poster submitted.

·         Reproducibility of the poster will be a factor in the judges’ decisions, so use good lettering and bright, high contrast colors!

Registration forms can be found on the City’s Every Drop Counts website at http://water.amarillo.gov, at the Parks and Recreation department in Room 201 (second floor) of City Hall at 509 S.E. 7th Ave., and at each of the City’s five libraries. Entries can be turned in at any of these locations and must be received by Thursday, July 3 by Noon. For more information, call 378-3036.
