AMARILLO -- A dust storm is blowing across the High Plains.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol confirms Highway 287 north out of Boise City to Lamar, Colorado, is closed because of low visibility.

The dust hit the northern High Plains mid afternoon Tuesday.

It hit Amarillo around 4:30 p.m.

Winds are gusting up to 45 mph in Amarillo.

Visibility is low, so be careful if you have to drive.

KAMR NBC 4 Chief Meteorologist John Harris says the dust is blowing in from Colorado and Kansas.

John says it should subside around midnight.
