Driver Booked in Potter County on Intoxicated Manslaughter After Friday Morning Wreck

AMARILLO -- Early Friday morning, Amarillo Police were called out to 9th and S Pierce on a motor vehicle collision.
When Officers arrived they found a 2010 Dodge 2500 driven by Billy Don Ware, 37, had been going south bound on S Pierce, when the vehicle hit a 2006 Chevy Cobalt driven by 61-year-old Mary Nancy Encinias. The Chevy had been eastbound on E 9th.
Encinias was taken to a local hospital where she later died of injuries sustained in the crash.
An autopsy has been ordered by Justice of the Peace Nancy Bosquez.
Police say alcohol and speed are factors in the collision. Ware was booked into the Potter County Sheriff’s Office Jail for Intoxicated Manslaughter.
The incident is being investigated by the Traffic Investigation Squad of the Amarillo Police Dept.
