Dr. Conrad Murray is a Free Man

- The doctor convicted of involuntary manslaughter for the death of Michael Jackson is out of jail after serving two years of a four year sentence.

The media scrum descended on Conrad Murray's appellate lawyer  when word spread her 60-year old client had been released but even she didn't know how.

"Did you see him leave in a police escort? I didn't, probably to avoid this. Probably to avoid all you," said Valarie Wass.

A sheriff's department spokesman didn't elaborate.

"He was released safely and he is no longer part of the la county jail system," said L.A. County Sheriff's Department Spokesman Steve Whitmore.

Wass says she's grateful Murray was able to sidestep the cameras outside.

"I know that he's out safely. I'm greatly relieved and I'm thrilled and i know how firsthand how horrific this has been and what an ordeal it's been," Wass said.

Murray was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter for giving Jackson a deadly dose of propofol, a surgical anesthetic that the singer used to fight insomnia.

Murray insists Jackson dosed himself the night he died, and plans to appeal his conviction and start the process toward getting his medical licenses reinstated.

His lawyer says he has been in excellent spirits and was looking forward to seeing his girlfriend and his four year old son, but mostly to clearing his name so he can practice medicine again
