DPS Trooper Seizes Over Quarter of a Million Dollars of Cocaine

AMARILLO -– On Tuesday, a DPS traffic stop on I-40 yielded over eight pounds of cocaine valued at over $253,000.

At 8:21 a.m., a DPS trooper pulled over a 2005 Chevrolet Equinox traveling eastbound on I-40, for a traffic violation, near Conway in Carson County.

During the traffic stop, the trooper found eight bundles of cocaine concealed in a compartment of the vehicle.  

The driver, 36-year-old Joel Gonzalez-Camaro of Culican, Mexico was placed under arrest for possession of a controlled substance, a first-degree felony, and booked into the Carson County Jail. 

The illegal drugs were allegedly being transported from Phoenix, Arizona to Columbus, Ohio.
