AMARILLO – A DPS traffic stop Thursday on I-40, yielded 127 pounds of marijuana valued at over $563,000.
At 6:32 p.m., a DPS trooper pulled over a 2004 Ford Explorer traveling eastbound on I-40, for a traffic violation, near Conway in Carson County.
During the traffic stop, the trooper discovered 116 bundles of marijuana in the vehicle.
31-year-old Joshua Aaron Weitz and 23-year-old Richard Ayala were placed under arrest for possession of marijuana over 50 pounds but less than 2,000 pounds, a first-degree felony, and booked into the Carson County Jail.
The illegal drugs were allegedly being transported from San Francisco to St. Louis.
