Curry County Town Hall Meeting

The New Mexico Office of African American Affairs (OAAA) is hosting an open to the public Town Hall Meeting at Clovis Carver Library-North Annex at 701 N. Main on March 18, 2014, from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.

The reason for the meeting is to bring together a community, in some cases for the first time.

The US Census Bureau says, approximately 3,396 of the 42,550 African Americans in the state of New Mexico reside in Curry County.

According to Clovis City Commissioner, NM Small Business Development Center Director, and business owner Dr. Sandra Taylor-Sawyer, coming together is important, but understanding what disparities exist in our community is equally important.

OAAA has a goal of re-vitalizing and informing communities of color in an effort to provide resources, support, and to help decrease disparities that exist within and among counties throughout New Mexico.

The entire community invited.

However, the primary focus of the demographic and economic data that will be shared during the meeting is specific to the African American population.
