(NBC News)  Outrage in Congress over the ongoing Veterans Affairs scandal went up another notch Thursday when VA officials did not show up for a House hearing.

The House Veterans Affairs Committee is seeking documents from the troubled Phoenix hospital where dozens of veterans are alleged to have died while waiting for treatment.

"Members on both sides of the aisle are extremely frustrated," said Rep. Michael Michaud, (D) Maine.

The Veterans Affairs Committee issued three subpoenas in response, ordering three top officials to testify later this month.
