CLOVIS -- Edgar Ray Thomas, 42, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for several violent crimes committed between April and July of 2013.
April of last year, Thomas robbed a man at gunpoint in front of the Allsup’s Store at 21st and Martin Luther King Streets. Upon arrival, police found Thomas in the victim’s car holding a gun and the victim lying on the ground outside the vehicle.
Thomas later bonded out of jail and was arrested again in July 2013 for resisting arrest and battering a police officer after he refused to leave an Allsup’s Store and for hitting man at Lowe’s Home Improvement Store with a hammer. These two incidents occurred within days of each other.
The Honorable Fred Van Soelen presided over the case and accepted Thomas’s guilty plea to Armed Robbery, False Imprisonment, Aggravated Battery and Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.
