Clovis, New Mexico -
CLOVIS -- 37-year-old Sharon Kirven, of Clovis, was sentenced to serve eight years in prison for Trafficking Controlled Substances and Solicitation to Tamper with Evidence.
A Curry County jury found Kirven guilty on June 26, 2014.
Kirven was arrested at the Curry County Detention Center on May 28 of last year, after Kirven told a family member about where she had hidden a large amount of cocaine on a recorded phone conversation from the jail.
Police officers went to the location and a police drug detection dog alerted on a vehicle. Approximately 4.4 ounces of cocaine were located.
Kirven was sentenced to thirteen years, with five of those years to be served on supervised probation. Kirven is a habitual offender which further enhanced her sentence.
