Bushland ISD Implements One to One Ratio of iPads and Laptops

BUSHLAND -- Bushland ISD is taking technology to a new level.

After a bond issue passed last year, the district is putting a device in the hands of every single student.

"I think it makes it more fun for everybody, because it's not just worksheet after worksheet," said Cason Christian.

Every student K-6 has an iPad.

All students in grades 7-12 have laptops.

The district just completed the full roll-out of all the new technology in January, and it's helping all students find level playing field in the classroom.

"Our goal is to make sure that we lessen that digital divide that has really impacted our low socio-economic students.  We're finding that students that can't afford devices are missing out on the experiences and the preparation necessary to prepare them," Jandi Tyson, the Bushland ISD IT Coordinator said.

As for teachers, they say technology is a must to prepare kids for what's next.

"To prepare them for the future. We don't even know what these 3rd graders are going to do for jobs. There are going to be new jobs invented," Anna Stuteville, a 3rd grade teacher at Bushland Elementary said.

And at Bushland ISD, they want their students to be prepared, for whatever the future may hold.
