Bushland Elementary Students Raise Money for 100 Club of the Texas Panhandle

$450 is raised in one day to help first responders on the high plains.

Fourth graders at Bushland Elementary presented the money to the 100 Club of the Texas Panhandle.

It was raised during a hat day competition at the school.

A teacher at the school says they got a field trip and wanted to do a service learning project.

Bushland Elementary Teacher Dana Boaz said, "We had several kiddos that gave their own money. Much much more than just a dollar.  That was such an honor. These law enforcement officers and firefighters and ems works put themselves in harms way everyday for us. "

The money will go to first responders including fire fighters and departments in our area.

Dirk Swope with the 100 Club says this is a great way for students to learn how to give back and serve the community.
