AMARILLO -- Foster teens from across the Amarillo gathered to attend the inaugural Spring Fling Celebration this evening.
Buckner is bringing local agencies such as the Texas Workforce Solutions, Texas Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services, High Plains Food Bank, and Haven Health in an effort to provide the youth with the opportunity to learn life skills prior to going out on their own.
"The purpose of this event is to introduce our young adults to service providers in the community who will be able to educate and assist them both now and as they make the transition out of foster care," said Terry Thomas, Bruce Ford Transition Center program director. "We could not be more ecstatic to be partnering with the Amarillo community in an effort give these teens the tools they will need to fall back on once they go out on their own. With all of the negative influences kids are up against in todays culture, we want them to graduate from care confident that they have what it takes to make a positive life for themselves."
