Border Children: Humanitarian Crisis

-
(NBC News) As the number of undocumented and unaccompanied children coming across the U.S.-Mexican border grows, so do the questions about their living conditions, their future and how the government plans to deal with the situation.

Arizona Governor Jan Brewer delivered that message to Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson Wednesday as they toured a border facility in Nogales.

Hundreds of children are being housed in Nogales, most transferred from Texas where there is simply no more room.

More than 47,000 children have been apprehended since October.

At a hearing Wednesday on Capitol Hill the debate continued over why so many children continue to make the difficult, dangerous trip.
