Assistant Director of Amarillo Animal Control Retires

AMARILLO – The city of Amarillo is reporting that Shannon Barlow has retired from her position as assistant director of Animal Control effective today.

 Scott McDonald, the City’s chief building official, continues to serve as interim director of Animal Control, and reports directly to Bob Cowell, assistant city manager of development services.

City staff will update the City Council during today’s 1:30 work session on improvements that continue at the City shelter. 

Cowell and McDonald will oversee the continued operations of Animal Control, the selection process for a new director, the third party review process, implementing the identified improvements and working directly with the Animal Control Board in their efforts. 

Cowell will report directly to the City Manager in all of these items and actions.
