ARAD Residential Recovery Center Set to Open

Amarillo Recovery from Alcohol & Drugs Get New Space for Recovery Program

AMARILLO - It is a new start for those in Amarillo struggling with alcohol and drug addiction.

For more than 20 years, the Yellow City has been without a residential treatment center, but after years of community support, that changed today.

Last year, the Mary E. Bivins Foundation gave Amarillo Recovery from Alcohol and Drugs their old nursing home medical center.

Now, they have turned that space into a treatment program for adults.

"To me, this facility, what it stands for, and what it's going to do for Amarillo, is a really good representation of the heart of the city," said Martha Burkett, Director of Treatment and Recovery Services.

An open house for the public is Saturday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
