AMARILLO -- Coffee Memorial Blood Center has teamed up with LifeGift to raise awareness on the need for not only blood donations but organ and tissue donations as well.
The goal for the month of April is to register 500 new organ and tissue donors while maintaining a stable blood supply for area patients in need.
Today is National Donate Life Blue and Green Day. It is a way to offer hope to the 120,000 men, women and children waiting for a lifesaving transplant and countless others who wait for tissue and corneal transplants.
“We are encouraging Texans to show off their Donate Life pride to honor organ, eye and tissue donors and celebrate the patients who received the gift of life through transplantation,” said Laura Frnka-Davis, spokesperson for Donate Life Texas, the official registry of organ, eye and tissue donors in the state.
In the state of Texas, you can register as a donor in three ways:
At any Texas Department of Public Safety Office when obtaining or renewing your driver’s license.
At any Texas Department of Motor Vehicle office when renewing your vehicle registration.
