AMARILLO -- On Tuesday 7:45am, officers responded to a wreck involving an SUV and a Train in the 1800 block of Folsom Road.
During the investigation, Police learned that the driver of a 2007 Nissan X-Terra was southbound on Folsom road going towards Amarillo Blvd East. When the driver got stuck on the track due to the road closed for repairs
As the driver attempted to free themselves from the tracks, an eastbound BNSF train was approaching the intersection. The driver was unable to get the SUV off the tracks; however, he was able to get clear of the impending collision.
The vehicle was unoccupied at the time of the collision and there were no reported injuries to BNSF personnel.
The driver of the SUV fled the scene before officers arrived. Officials removed the vehicle from the scene and impounded it
An official said a small plane crashed shortly after takeoff.
