Anniversary Tribute to Heroes and Victims
By Jay Gray
(NBC News) Today in Boston, Massachusetts marks the first anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombing, which killed three people and injured over 260 others last year.
Victims, survivors and first responders were all honored at a special memorial service at the Hynes Convention Center on Tuesday, just blocks from the marathon's finish line.
Former Boston Mayor Tom Menino praised the response of the city residents to the bombing, while survivors of the bombing spoke about the pain they endured as well as the difficulties that they continue to face.
"There were many moments we could have not made it through had it not been for one another," said Adrianne Haslet-Davis, a survivor of last year's bombing.
The path to recovery will continue next week on Monday, April 21st when the 2014 Boston Marathon will be held.
