Amarillo Woman Named Statewide Trainer of the Year by Special Olympics Texas

AUSTIN - A local woman is awarded as one of Special Olympics Texas' Statewide volunteers of the year.

J'nette Thorne volunteers at least 15 to 20 hours a week between coaching 12 sports, training other coaches, assisting with fundraisers, and serving on SOTX's Board of Directors.

Thorne, a volunteer with SOTX’s Panhandle-area program since 1996, has conducted 20 local and statewide trainings and 16 competitions during the last year.
    
She will be formally recognized at an awards ceremony on October 13 during the 2017 SOTX fall classic competition.
