The financial website wallethub.com ranks Amarillo as the 14th best place to start a new small business this year.
The organization used 14 different criteria in making up this list.
They applied it to the top 150 cities in the country and Texas landed a whopping 15 cities on the list.
Amarillo's top 15 ranking was achieved because of four high scores among the criteria.
The city is 8th in the country in small business lending.
Amarillo is also in the top 20 in affordable housing (10th), longest average workday (11th) and lowest cost of living (17th).
Amarillo National Bank executive vice president Patrick Ware says one thing they didn't measure was loyalty.
"The people are real loyal. They're going to go to the Donut Stop instead of Krispy Kreme, they're going to go to ANB rather than Wells Fargo. That's just kind of how people have been around here for 80 years and that's an advantage of opening a business here." Ware said.
Ware says Donut Stop is a perfect example of that loyalty.
They locally owned store actually did something other cities across the country couldn't do. They chased the big national chain Krispy Kreme out of town.
Amarillo beat-out every other Texas city except El Paso.
Lubbock is ranked 34th.
