AMARILLO – During a search of a residence in the 4200 block of Polk, Amarillo police report that contraband from the house went missing.
After the 10 pills of Xanax were collected and cataloged, police say the pills were missing.
Officers immediately conducted a detailed search of each other, the entire premises, all patrol vehicles, and contacted a lieutenant to come to the scene. The Lieutenant conducted a thorough search again of all officers, vehicles, the premises and started an investigation into the matter.
The missing pills are still missing.
All officers involved in the raid are now on administrative leave.
Internal Affairs is now investigating the matter.
One officer, Dewayne Griffin, resigned during this investigation. He denies any involvement in the missing pills.
