AMARILLO – Monday afternoon, Amarillo Police pulled over a vehicle in the 3300 block of SW 7th for traffic violations.
The driver, 27-year-old Christopher Allen Smith, did not have a valid driver’s license and was not the vehicle’s owner. The passenger in the vehicle had an outstanding city traffic warrant.
Officers arrested Smith for the traffic violations and the passenger 22-year-old Amber Dawn McLemore for the outstanding municipal warrant.
Before impounding it, Police found a .380 caliber handgun between the passenger seat and console. They also discovered a box that contained a small quantity of marijuana, a pipe, scales, and a small quantity of what is believed to be methamphetamine under the passenger seat. They also found a second box containing over 100 grams of what is believed to be methamphetamine in the same location.
The investigation linked the female to the contraband.
McLemore was booked into the Potter County Jail for manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance over four but under two hundred grams, unlawfully carrying a weapon, possession of marijuana under two ounces, possession of drug paraphernalia, and the traffic warrant.
Smith was booked into the Randall County Jail for disregard of a stop sign and no driver’s license.
