AMARILLO -- This morning Amarillo Police detained a suspect in the Wells Fargo bank robberies after an officer spotted the vehicle in the Burger King drive-up lane on Georgia.
Officers made contact with 28-year-old Jon-Michael Murray. The man appeared to be the suspect in the two recent bank robberies.
Officers took the man to the Amarillo Police Department for additional investigation.
Officers secured a search warrant for and searched the silver 2007 Dodge van. Robbery Squad investigators developed physical evidence that linked the man to both the 8-27 and 9-2 Wells Fargo robberies. Investigators also searched the apartment where the suspect has been living in north Amarillo. They recovered money possibly taken in the robberies.
The 47th District Attorney’s Office accepted two charges of robbery against Murray.
Murray was booked into the Potter County Jail.
